What We Handle
That Others Won't

These items require specific technique, equipment, and experience. We do not treat them like regular furniture. Tell us what you have and we will tell you exactly how we move it.

Upright Pianos
Upright and console pianos weigh 400 to 800 pounds and require a specific approach to navigate stairs and doorways without damage to the instrument or your floors. We use piano boards, straps, and the right crew size for the job.
From $350
Grand Pianos
Grand and baby grand pianos require disassembly of the legs and pedal lyre before moving. Each piece is wrapped individually and reassembled at the destination. Price depends on size and access at both locations.

Antiques and Fine Art
Antique furniture, sculptures, paintings, and framed artwork. Each piece is assessed individually, wrapped in the appropriate materials, and loaded to minimize movement during transport.

Large Safes
Gun safes and floor safes can weigh over 1,000 pounds. Moving them requires proper equipment and a crew that knows how to distribute weight safely on stairs and through doorways.

Medical Equipment
Adjustable beds, mobility equipment, home medical devices, and similar items that require careful handling and precise placement at the destination. We work around your setup and do not disconnect anything requiring a technician.

Pool Tables and Game Rooms
Pool tables require full disassembly including the felt and slate. Arcade machines, heavy gaming setups, and entertainment centers with large screens all fall into this category. Each piece is quoted individually.

Why It Matters

What Makes Specialty
Moving Different

The difference between a general mover and a specialty mover is preparation. Most damage to high-value items happens because the crew was not prepared for what they were carrying.

We Assess Before We Book
Every specialty item is discussed on the phone before the move is scheduled. We ask about type, size, location, stair access, and any unusual circumstances so the right crew and equipment show up on the day.
Right Equipment for Each Item
Piano boards, straps, four-wheel dollies, custom crating materials, and specialty wraps are matched to the item being moved. We do not improvise with standard moving blankets on a 700-pound piano.
Crew Sized to the Item
A standard 2-person crew is not appropriate for every specialty item. A grand piano on three flights of stairs might need four people. We size the crew correctly before we quote so nothing is left to chance on moving day.
Fully Insured for High-Value Items
We are fully licensed, bonded, and insured. For items of significant value, we recommend discussing coverage with us before the move so you know exactly what is protected and how.

"With specialty items, the phone call before the move is as important as the move itself. Ten minutes on the phone prevents the kind of mistakes that cost thousands to fix."

How It Works

Specialty Moving
Step by Step

More planning goes into a specialty move than a standard one. Here is how we make sure everything goes right.

1
Call Us First
Tell us what the item is, where it is, and where it is going. Be specific about stairs, tight hallways, elevator access, and anything unusual at either address. The more detail you give us, the more accurate your quote will be.
2
We Quote the Job Properly
Specialty items are priced individually based on the item, access, distance, and required crew size. You receive a fixed price before anything is scheduled. No surprises on moving day.
3
Right Crew and Equipment Assigned
Based on your item and access details, we assign the correct number of crew members and pull the appropriate equipment. Pianos get piano boards. Antiques get custom wrapping. Large safes get four-point dollies.
4
Item Moved Safely and Placed
We move the item to your specified location and place it exactly where you want it. Pianos are tuned by their owners after moving as a matter of course. We get it there in one piece. Whether it arrives in tune depends on the instrument, not on us.
Common Questions

Specialty Moving
Questions Answered

Yes. Stairs are common in Baltimore rowhomes and apartments and we handle them regularly. Tell us the number of flights and the staircase width when you call so we can assign the right crew size. Upright pianos on stairs need at least three people and the right equipment.
Yes. Tell us about the item before we book so we can assess the best approach and materials. For very high-value items, we recommend discussing insurance coverage with us before the move so you are fully protected.
Yes. Specialty items are quoted as line items added to your move. You get one total price covering the standard move and the specialty item handling. Just tell us about all specialty items when you get your initial quote so nothing is left out.
Yes. Pianos almost always need tuning after a move due to changes in temperature, humidity, and the physical movement of the instrument. This is normal and expected. We move the piano safely. Your tuner brings it back into tune at the new location. We recommend waiting a few weeks after the move before tuning so the piano can acclimate to its new environment.
Very likely yes. Call us and describe what you have. If we do not handle it, nine times out of ten we know someone who does and can point you in the right direction. We will always be straight with you about whether we are the right crew for a given item.
